I finally (after years of casually looking) pulled the trigger on a Mark VIII. Last weekend I bought CE# 0087, with just under 77K mi. I believe it needs a blend door (the temp doesn't change at the outlets), but since it's stuck in the cold position, I have a more pressing issue. The A/C only comes out of the dash when there's full vacuum (engine at idle, or coasting) *on edit* when on the throttle, it siwtches to the defrost vents. I have searched through hundreds of threads, and checked the vacuum check valve, and made sure the vacuum tank is still connected. There doesn't seem to be any vacuum leaks, b/c even after being off for 2 days, there was a giant sucking sound when I disconnected the vacuum line going to the vacuum tank in the pass fender, so it seems to be doing its job (and the check valve as well). What else could be causing this issue?
Thanks in advance,
-Chris
