It's over, folks. This is why I've abandoned the Republican Party. After all, it has abandoned its constituents. Congress is now officially full of corrupt, ignorant idiots who have nothing but their own interests at heart. They specialize in self-aggrandizement at the expense of the American taxpayer. The hoped-for election of John McCain will not improve this situation one bit. Face it, folks, your gas prices will hit 10 dollars a gallon in the next 4 years and your heating bill will triple. And all for no good reason other than the stupidity and selfishness of the American government. For all your bashing of Ron Paul, he is the one candidate who would have opposed this. "But at least Iraq will be saved!" I guess we'll have to move to Iraq once America is destroyed from within.

Inhofe is one of only a few voices left in the wilderness. Pretty soon the corruption of our government will be absolute. I suspect that the release of Atlas Shrugged next year will be too late. Americans in large part are lazy and oblivious, and too easily led by the media, which in large part hates this country and all it stands for.

Better get hunkered down, because we've probably only got a few years left before the face of this country changes permanently.

I doubt that such a poorly thought-out bill will pass, especially given the fact that we just had a record-setting cold year across the globe.

But I have underestimated the foolishness of the US government before...

Bush has already said we need to do something about global warming. He's complicit in the corrupt ignorance. And he has never been very handy with a veto pen.

Well I'll be deeply dissappointed in our government, and in the American people if such a bill passes. But I think I'd should point out that the premise of the final paragraph in your original post weakens the strength of your original argument.

The bill will not pass under Bush.

Bush has said he will veto it.

Obama or McCain however will pass it.

The best thing you can do is keep climbing the food chain.

Sure, the left and complicit RINOs won't be happy until they have 80% of your check to make sure that 50% don't pay any taxes at all in any form. Doesn't mean you can't make money and use every means possible to remove it from taxation.

David, 1st thing to do is incorporate. Either an LLC or Sub-S. Start a business. Don't do the home business write-off crap. Just start selling a service and use the tax code to the best of your advantage. That's all you can do at this point.

The bill will pass under Bush because Congress has enough votes to override.

Thanks for the advice Bryan, I will take it.

McConnell already said it won't get out of the Senate. Not enough votes. And Bush makes it 60. So not this year.

Pay the reasonable fees for an accountant. Do monthly statements, etc, etc.

I tell everyone I know. It is the single biggest tax break any tax-paying American can get. Don't abuse it. Start with the service you already provide. You need a computer, you need paper, you need a copier. You need to travel to your customers so you get a mileage deduction to use your own vehicle. List goes on and on. Just don't do the home office thing. And get some business insurance to further cover yourself for when you are travelling on 'business'. Very inexpensive policies.
