Constitutional justification for Obamacare?

Can someone explain to me the constitutional justification for a "public health insurance option" established by the federal government? Can someone explain to me where in the constitution the federal government gets the authority to mandate that it's citizens purchase private insurance?

Even Foxpaws has recently stated that any kind of socialized or single-player medical system is both unconstitutional and resembling fascism.

So other than the intellectually bankrupt "general welfare" argument, there is none.
