Country Music, Rap, Classic Rock, Oldies...

Depends on the mood. Anything from heavy metal, classic rock, to the blues. Sorry, no need for country.

The cartridge currently in the changer has Godsmack, Metallica, Puddle of Mudd, Alice in Chains, Motley Crue, Guns and Roses, and Nickleback. The other cartridge is loaded with the blues and classic rock.

I usually listen to rap, but mostly underground stuff. Also have some rock mixed in. Usually have more laid back cruising music in some slots, and more adrenaline pumping stuff in the others.

30 gig IPOD with a kenwood excelon headunit, i can listen to anything i want....generally i listen to Black Label Society, Pantera, Down, Corrsion of conformity, Megadeth, Metallica (old stuff) etc etc...then other times i listen to Hank Williams Jr, Willie Nelson, alot of Classic rock, and even the odd time when i want to give the subs a DB work out ill listen to some Rap, Snoop, 3-6 Mafia and a few others...mostly anything with some hard hitting bass...ohh and you Might here some Vanilla Ice the odd time as well ahha

Country is nearly classic rock/pop now.
In fact, it's the only "pop" music out there that still embraces musicianship and lyrics.

I'm not a fan of traditional country, but the new stuff is really just blues and rock n' roll with a twang.

I miss 102.5 The Bone, Tampa Bay's Classic Rock Station. :(

Technically POP stands for, or at least originated meaning - POPULAR.. So really, country is by far not pop. Alot of "12 year old girl" music is.

I'm not a country fan. People living in the same routine for years, don't really have much to sing about. It's more comical and saddening listing to country than anything. People don't have a clue of what the worlds really about today.

Personally I have a very ecclectic taste in music. Not a big RAP fan (the true meaning) but can appreciate Twista. I like alot of R&B, hip hop, not usually the mainstream stuff, but sometimes.. more like Common, Chris Brown (some that you don't hear) Biggie, etc. Outkast - I feel has always been Under- rated. and Jon B. Etc.

I am a rock fan also, but again, not mainstream usually. Bands like Nickleback and Linkin Park, are not artists. Maynard Keenan is an artist. Chris Cornell is an artist. The other bands shouldn't be on the billboard top 100 list for music, they should be on the top 100 list for MARKETING. And, kids these days, don't know what the f*ck music is, it's sad, because alot of it is junk. It's sad to see good music pushed aside for shallow CRAP that has nothing but a chorus and the same guitar riff through the whole song. Metallica became conformists after the black album. I hate hearing any of their crap. AC/DC, motley crue, they should have retired sooner. Most of the time you hear those anymore, you know you're in a redneck bar, or a bar full of washed up 38 year olds still wearing ear rings, and only thinking they know how to play pool.

I do like some older country, such as the mavericks, and a couple songs by few country artists.

If you rock guys want to hear some good tunes, check out: Electric Worry - by Clutch. Texas - by Primer 55.

I even like stuff such as Type O Negative "love you to death"

Jane says (live version) - Janes addiction, always a classic. Blind melon's ''no rain'', Incubus, .. I could go on and on. I love music.

Dope, Saliva, Breaking Benjamin, Staind, Evans Blue, Metallica, Alice in Chains, Godsmack, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Slipknot, Prozak, Kottonmouth Kings, Tech N9ne and more that I can't think of right now

I got it but man is it too dark...I liked his other albums where he had mixtures of style...some dark, some hype rock type, and some deep bass hip hop

Maybe I like it right now, since I am having issues with basically everyone around me. Dependable people seem to be a large minority right now. Listen to it mostly when hitting the heavybag lately.

I just burn mixed cd's that have a mix of old and new along with different mood sets, for whatever "funk" I am in.

KMK's "Bump" is still one of my all time favorites. Miss having a big system in the car. Focusing on performance right now before upgrading my stereo system.

Maybe we should stop before we overrun this thread.

Edit: Here's a few of my favorite from Strange right now.

Technically, country can absolutely be Pop.
Unless you think Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Shania Twain, Big & Rich, and Garth Brooks aren't "pop."

What's "pop" music changes over time due to it's the music trends. Music labels often evolve time.

What a broad brush your painting with.
That'd be like saying all rock music is about getting high and laid on the sunset strip of L.A.

Personally I have a very ecclectic taste in music.
Everyone says that... most of the time they really don't.

They say that about every generation of "kids." Including the kids who liked jazz, the ones who liked to listen to the old Decca records and Robert Johnson, the rockabilly fans, the Beatles, Cream, Hendrix, Zeplin fans, and the ones that liked Soundgarden too.

That's always the case.

And during every period, there's a segment of "pop" music that is mass produced and not very good. As has been the case since the mass production of albums and radio. From Britney Spears to Flock of Seagulls to the The Archies....

Regarding Metallica, Kirk Hammet is embarrassing to listen to on guitar. I saw them during the S&M tour. Bought the tickets for a girlfriend. I was never a fan of theirs, but I had been reading Kirk Hammet talking about how he was influenced by Clapton, SRV, and Hendrix. How he was really growing as a musician, and was now focused on tone and conserving notes during solos... all things that a good musician says. Then he stunk on ice live.

Perhaps I'd enjoy them more if I hated my father.

I'm a metal guy Iced Earth, Mega Deth, Dio, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Yngwie Malmsteen, Black Label Society, Metal Church, Accept, Saxon, Van Halen, and Classical. None of that pop rock crap like Dickelback, Linkin Park. what ever happened to a five minuet guitar solo

(Bold is easier than copy/pasting..)

Right, but, what do they sing about? Same stuff, different song.. this is my opinion of course, It probably really is that I don't see any interest in what's between the lines. Their soul, etc.

I did mention I like some country, if you read everything bud..

Right, via me saying it at least ''use to'' or started out, to mean popular

Right, but I like blues, oldies, classic rock, country, rock, few emo, hip hop/R&B, some Rap etc. I think that's considered eclectic. Now, if all my presets were country, I would not have an eclectic music taste.

"They" are usually people with one genre on their presets.. I'm not, and I do mean generally speaking. Not all kids don't have taste in music, there's talented young musicians every day.

Lol, agreed

You wanna go technical. Few if any bands approach Dream Theater or Rush. Heck, there probably hasn't been a band featured on MTV in the past decade that could even touch either of them from a technical standpoint...

YouTube- Neil Peart Drum solo R-30 DVD (with sound again)

YouTube- The Dance of Eternity - Mike Portnoy (Liquid Drum Theater)

Liquid Tension Experiement is the instrumental side project featuring the percussionist, guitarist and keyboardist from Dream Theater...

YouTube- Liquid Tension Experiment - Acid Rain Live In L.A. 2008

YouTube- Liquid Tension Experiment - Biaxident

From a writing standpoint, I would say anything with Neal Morris is worth checking out; especially Transatlantic. Basically the band could be described a cross between Rush, Pink Floyd and the Beatles...

YouTube- Transatlantic - Overture/Whirlwind

Lars drum solos are embarassing. He is perfect for Metallica, but outside of that, he is an awful drummer...

Hey Shag, have you ever seen Dream Theater live... AWESOME

Can't say that I have.

I am not normally much for live shows (outside of small venues with talented performers), but I would love to see DT live.

The last "live show" I was at was on my birthday last year when I went to a "Duelin' Piano" bar in Kansas City. It was GREAT!

politics

Why all the political bs in a car forum?? heck i try to hide from it -- thought there was places for that besides here.
lets talk lincoln and leave politics to the fools !

My playlists consist of anything from Project Pat to Eisbrecher to Weird Al to Madonna... Everything except country and whiney music (some R&B and rock.)

AC/DC, motley crue, they should have retired sooner. Most of the time you hear those anymore, you know you're in a redneck bar, or a bar full of washed up 38 year olds still wearing ear rings, and only thinking they know how to play pool.

Hey, Saints of Los Angeles is a pretty good album.
