Crosdrilled rotor problems

I have a 98 towncar with kvr crossdrilled rotors and kvr carbon fibre pads all around. The front rotors developed rings around them in-line with the holes. I had them machined and the inside of the drivers one was still smooth though that pad was much lower than the others. The outside of it and the passengerside rotor were circled again. It also grooved the pads as well which I smoothed out. My question is this normal for crossdrilled rotors? Also is it possible that they have grooved again because they didn't machine the pads as well. They were on for about 1 1/2 or 2 years and it only took about 2 months for them to rewarp. This is with under 1500 miles on the car in those 2 months.

I am sorry for this but why would put crossdrilled rotors on a towncar? on a serious note I have hear stories of them warping but never lines, it could be because your car is so heavy but I don't know.

Never heard of the lines, but all the ones I have seen crack at the holes.

It would PAY to get the best..........lol......no problems with mine!!!!!!!!!!

3860 98 towncar curb weight
3765 98 mark VIII curb weight

Cracking at the holes has to do with how they are driled mainly and the quality of the rotor as well.

Also I could say why didn't you just get a mustang. But upgrading a towncar or a mark VIII makes it different. Plus all most muscle cars are is a family car with a more powerful engine.

I never had cross drilled rotors. I have only seen them on other peoples cars (many different brands) cracked at the holes. For that reason I will never buy them for any car regardless if they are $1k per rotor or $1 per rotor.

I'll stay slotted and not worry about the cracking and not have to pay out the butt for expensive rotors.

Don't get me wrong next time I will get slotted but from what I found at the time crossdrilled seemed to be better for a street car. Supposedly better stopping power due to out-gassing and cooling and wet braking. But live and learn I was just wondering if anyone else had ever seen a similar problem.

never seen it but have had cracking. I know you heard it already but slotted is the way to go. You migth try shoping the auto recyclers for some OEMs before something bad happens.

Yeah I found yesterday the inner drivers side pad had seperated from its backplate. I ground the rings off all the front pads and smoothed the rotors out some. Then sprayed on some anti-squeal spray looks like silver metallic paint. It seems to stop smoother and grab better, but. It sucks though as I need to replace the rotors and pads so the rotors don't wreck a new set of pads. Is it safe to be driving it as it is now?

Well I ordered overnight bendix rotors and ceramic lifetime bendix pads from advance so hopefully these fare better than the KVR I had.
