Ok, odd title but fitting on a few levels.
First, I am new here but have been lurking a while. I am a member of Lincolns of Distinction (as are other members here) and joined so that my knowledge base for my 'Daily Driver' will be less likely to stagnate. The more information locations I can frequent, the better the cars chances of being properly kept up/modified!
Second, the car itself. It is a 97 Lincoln MKVIII Base model, purchased with a salvage title and 68,800 miles on the odometer. The car was purchased new in Kentucky, where it was shortly thereafter involved in a serious rear-ending. Being the car was quite new at the time and rear clips were not available, the dealership performing the work used what they could find. That find happened to be a 1994 rear clip. They did a very clean job of the install (as far as the sheetmetal integration is concerned) and were able to keep the 97 on the road. Car went to the dealers wife, who didn't like it. She gave it to her grand-daughter, whom I purchased it from recently. It needs some work, but for $850 and NO RUST I can't argue too much.
Hopefully I can fit in here and be functional on some level. Thanks in advance for the welcome and thank you all for the sharing/exchange of information.
