So having a couple cruise related issues, wanting help narrowing it down. The lights for the cruise buttons on the right side of the steering wheel pulse on & off regularly and then will eventually just come on after awhile. Other issue is sometimes cruise will simply not set & when it refuses to work the light won't come on in the dash. Driving along & giving it a little time will usually fix it. Think the cruise once just simply kicked back off while going down the road. My wife said when cruise acted up on her the check engine light came on which ended up coding as VSS sensor "A" issue.

So is this a SCIL issue, speed sensor issue, or combination of both? Where does one go to start narrowing down things w/o just randomly throwing parts at it?

You may have multiple problems, but the button back lighting problem could be your clockspring failing. A failing clockspring could cause the other issues, except for the VSS code. If it is the clockspring, turning the steering wheel left/right should have some affect of the lights blinking and the cruise setting.

Well that's one i didn't think of, will check it out this eve after it gets a bit darker. Thanks!
