getting a custom welded "true-dual" exhaust system like the swedish mark has on it where it's 2.5" pipe all the way back and then has a custom h-pipe with 1.5" piping. My question is where the heck does the h-pipe go. From the pics, it looks like it connects in the front by the 2 cats, but that can't make sense. Does anyone have an H-pipe on here, if so, can u send me a link or a pic to where yours is located?

thanks,
scott

2 to 3 feet from the primary cats. Heavy drone and some low end torque sacrifice will occur from the h.
ok, just got back from the exhaust shop and got a good price on a quote, but look at this pic:
http://swedish-acceleration.com/images/newexhaust.jpg
they told me that if i remove that 3rd cat/resonator combo that I would loose a lot of back pressure and the car could drive like crap, is this true? Don't most of you that have the LMS exhaust system have the part cut off and an double x-pipe in place of it? If so, but losing that 3rd cat/resonator combo did your car run like crap? U would think it would run better without all that restriction, am I wrong?
thanks,
scott

The Sweed's H-pipe is directley behind the transmission cross-member, which is at the rear of the trans. Which puts it around 3 feet, did you check this out while they quoted you at the exhaust shop. What'd they quote you, and for what material.

did I check what out while they quoted me? They said $350 minimum and $400 max for all the piping and flowmaster 40 series mufflers and hpipe. not bad in my opinion

Sound's like a great deal! I guess what I was asking was if you checked out where the transmission crossmember was, which would give you some idea as to where their H-pipe is... Did the shop put your car up on a rack?

Sorry for the confusion... My bad

you will be fine with an H pipe, I have one. :headbang:

since flowmasters are loud you might want to throw in some summit glass packs(2) a little bit after the h pipe and you will be sounding sweet, Flowmaster sounds good on marks not no ricer glass packs as mufflers bullshlt

Variety is the spice of life. Why do we want to trash someone that's different? This is a site for all Lincolns, isn't it?

Nobody's trashing anything, just making suggestions thats all. We did the H pipe 2.5 back in 97 and it was loud and drone filled. Im just trying to save this guy the hassle of redoing it if he doesn't like it.
I know when I buy ANYTHING, I like to see what has been tried and proven first. He may be thrilled with this set up, I hope he is that would be great.
I have some customrs that LOVE that LOUD sound and thats all they want, that's cool too. We have installed many a Blowmasters on many Marks for kid's who wanted just sound and sound only.
I am just trying to offer the best overall system out there after trying nearly every concievable possibility prior.

yeah that system is awesome.......if you live in New Jersey and can have them install it. I would probably have to spend over $1000 in parts and labor gettting that installed in oklahoma. Not worth it to me. Now if there was a Lincoln Motorsports in Oklahoma, I would be all for it.

$119.00 per muffler=$238.00. Twinn XX pipe=$100.00. Your Guy installing it $350.00-$400.00 max right?

Thats a low total of $688.00 and a high total of $738.00???????

Whats the difference what products your using for the cost of installation? In fact if he went with the twin xx he would be using less of his own materials. Ours are lifetime warrantied and ss too.

well the $350-400 included the h-pipe and 2 40 series flowmaster mufflers. Do you have any specs of how much pipe will need to be custom fabricated to fill in the gaps btwn the mufflers and xpipe?

hahahaha. I do live in a nice neighborhood most all my neighbors have harleys and vettes with exhaust done, so I'll blend right in. Also u guys have to remember that I sold a 99 t/a with flowmaster exhaust that was very loud before I bought this mark VIII, so loud is not a problem for me :)

Am I the only one that caught the fact that his quote was for 1 1/2 inch pipe???????????????????????
I hope it was a misprint.
And by the way if a shop charges more than 300 bucks to install Genos parts they are ripping you a new one.
My exhaust shop here in vegas charges about 200.

From reading it again, I think he wants 2.5" inch piping, but only a 1.5" crossover pipe... I don't know the effects of that, so I'll just leave the rest for the pro's...

I have a 96 LSC and it did not have a third cat, just a two cats and a resinator.
I got the LMS set up and had it installed for a total of 550.00 great price.
The car is a bit louder than stock at an idle but at WOT you know I'm comming awesome sound!!! I think it is quieter than the flowmsters. Which I'm glad about. Incase I have to sneek around LOL

1.5" for the h-pipe, 2.5" for the rest
