hey guys i just found out that my driver side cv shaft or rear axel need to be replaced. i have one that i got off a 98 mark viii with 80,000 miles should i use that or should i just go to autozone or napa and get a new one for like 80.00 bucks

Oh really? Only $189 per side or is that for the pair? What's the details on what makes them stronger?

Are T-bird half shafts the same as Mark VIIIs? I had installed a new halfshaft in my '89 'bird about a week before it crapped out. I am wondering if I can recycle it into the Mark.

Ours have larger main shafts and much stronger cv joints. They will take far more abuse then stock. FAR more. I broke my stock axel finally!!

So they are dimensional the same. Cool, I have a Raxels axel w/ less than a hundred miles on it. It would be a shame to junk the car w/ good parts on it.

they are pritty beefey. nice and thick too.

JUNK???? UH.............

I am running the Raxles as well. The Raxles Half Shafts are so much beefier than stock. They are spendy though. IIRC, I paid around 500 for two of them. Raxles' Customer service is top notch. The original set they sent me had the thin boots, and they got a tear in them. Marty at Raxles sent TWO brand new half shafts with 4x4 boots before I had a chance to pull the first he sent me out from under the car. I was so impressed with them, I have a spare unopened halfshaft sitting in my garage.

Remember, most of the time you get what you pay for.
