As a member of some forums (the "Brickboard" when it was still a listserve) I am glad to find this group. This looks like the place where we might be able to find his car a new home.
I have a few to many vehicles at the moment to accept my Dad's LS. I love the car and I had told him when it came time to purchase a new car I'd buy it from him.
Sad really because I really wanted to flog that car down VA RT42, VA RT 311 (White Sulfur Springs to Salem). While not an out and out performance car I know it would be a great car to run some fun mountain 2 lane roads with.
He is thinking of getting a new car in the next 6 months and asked for help selling it - not computer savy (email and can buy things but not so much forums and the like)
So unless I can come up with two more garage spaces really soon I can't buy this car so it will have to move onto someone new.
2000 LS V6 Sports Edition, Pearl White, gray interior, 61,700 miles. Original owner (built in May 2000, purchased in December 2000). NJ car owned by a retired man, garage kept, while driven in the winter basically only on nice days owning to RWD, no need to go out in the slushy salt coated conditions most of the time if Mom wasn't driving FWD car or later purchased Subaru.
It is in great condition and we are not ready to offer it yet (need to figure out what to buy next). It would need a good detailing and I would like to photograph it well on a lift to make it show well. The need for detailing, it is kept clean but a Jack Russel rides along from time to time and he smokes a pipe. He broke the PS mirror on the garage door frame, replaced with good used, have spare glass. Someone at the local dealer stole the trunk release button (have to buy whole switch from Ford) - will pickup replacement from pick and pull or online.
I think other than perhaps a ignition module and A/C clutch (replaced compressor as recommended by mechanic) nothing really has gone wrong with this car. He rarely used the factory Bra as worried about wear of the paint and moisture. Oil and filter by Dad, serviced as needed otherwise.
Original clutch (this should not be a problem as I just sold Mom's old '95 Altima 5 spd with 146,000 on the original clutch last June and I was not as kind to it as they were but lets just state they can drive a stick). I am unsure of the brakes - I'll have to go over everything with him. Tires around 52,000, 4 I think - before was rotating 5 so 5 original rims and 4 newer tires.
I would love to own this car (in spite of being just 41 I am not ready for a Lincoln) as it is a rare bird. Problem is it does not fit my lifestyle and would likely need to sit outside and I will not do that to a car in this great of shape.
I am currently driving a '03 Outback as my daily driver / rally car (try finding a clean manual transmission Subaru Outback in the Midwest - they are driven in the snow). I wouldn't buy a new Subaru and flog on gravel roads so I couldn't do that to this car. I would love to take the Lincoln to an AutoX just to show up in a 5 spd Lincoln. My other cars of interest are with two Volvo's an '73 1800ES and the '67 1800S (project) both not currently running in my garage at home. I have got the motor back in the ES, just need to reconnect the manifolds and Fuel Injection. Since the towing capacity of LS couldn't replace the F150 I would not have anything to pull the car trailer with as 3 vehicles on the road should enough for one man unless independently wealthy.
A long post - yes perhaps it should have gone to For Sale but until we are ready to sell I figure I would put it out there as a likely car for sale in the next 6 months.
If anyone has a good trunk release button (I'd take the whole switch but we only need the black button with the trunk open symbol on it) please contact me by PM.
