I promise to nicer if you promise to be smarter.
As most of you don't know, the business ventures I'm involved in, donate quite a bit of money to local charities. As such, last night I attended an event for one of these charities. I even had to wear a suit. Scary! Good food, great people, hot chicks (and I didn't even get to bring one home with me)... BUT, this is what I ended up coming home with.

Won all 4 in a raffle. Now granted, I spent more on the raffle than what they are worth (even retail), but hey, it's for a good cause.

#1 is a S&W .22LR. Very nice handgun. I already have a couple similar ones, so this one's getting sold.

#2 is a Springfield XD in a .45. I really don't care for the XD's, so this one's going bye bye as well. Already have a buyer for it.

#3 is a Ruger Vaquero in a .357. Bye Bye.

#4 is a Kimber 1911. This one stays.

So, in the end, I suppose I just "bought" myself a Kimber 1911 for around 5 grand. Math, it would seem, eludes me. :D

I wanna 1911 so bad but I do'nt go shooting much anymore...funny too since I got 5000 rounds of AK47 ammunition and my customized Norinco MAK90

what kind of charity events are you going to LOL my friend has a Walther PPK .22 rim fire, or some thing like that. it can't shoot more than five rounds with out jamming

hey frogman since your a fellow gun nut, have you shot the fn five seven? i think i might get one but no one has one around me i can check out. my question is hows the grip? keep in mind my favorite gun is my xd45 service and my new favorite rifle is my new urban camo socom 2 even though its only seen 50 rounds. so my last question is opinion based. im in a toss up between the five seven and the new blackwater sig 226. whats ur opinions

its a handgun that fnh made that shoots a 223 round. its an ugly little booger but a cool concept none the less

Oh, you mean one of these? ;)

Five.seveN (Note the play on words - this, from FN of all places).

The 226 Blackwater is nothing more than a 226 with some colored sights, and lots of Blackwater logos, IIRC. Why you'd want to be associated with those amateurs, it's beyond me. Seeing how they don't even use that name anymore. hah.

But, the Sig is a good firearm. I have nothing bad to say about Sig Sauer. they are dependable and well built.

As far as the Five.seveN... Well... I'm on my 3rd (or is it 4th, I'd have to check) barrel on my service 5.7, and 2nd on my work P90 (yes, P90, not PS90). I've fired around 80K rounds through my current Five.seveN, and it's still going strong... once I replace the barrels every 20K rounds or so. Yes, I know, it looks dirty, but I assure you, the insides are clean. On that note, one of the big advantages of the FN is that the thing will even fire with sand in it. And, it only needs cleaning every few thousand rounds because the 5.7x28mm ammo is so clean. Especially the SS190 AP ammo. Which, by the way is not .223 ammo. The bullet itself has a slightly larger diameter than the 223 (5.56mm) round. The FN round is actually 5.7mm (240). But, it's nowhere near as long as a .223 round.

The grips on the USG FN are fine. Much, much better than my old IOM Five.seveN.

As you can probably tell, I'm somewhat biased towards the FN. And for good reason, it's saved my ass more than once overseas.

In the end, I recommend you get what works for your hands the best.

thanks for the input. i just wish i could hold one before i put down the money. i already have a sig 226 but i was hands on with the blackwater usa/blackwater worldwide/xe or watever they are now and liked it more than the standard 226 but i want something different. the only expierience i have with fn is my tactical shotgun and honestly i like my 870 better. but thanks for the info. by the way if you dont mind the question, roughly how many firearms do you own?

I understand what you're saying. Sometimes, you have to go with what you have "hands on" experience with.

Well... Remington does make great scatter sticks.

but thanks for the info.

Welcome

Some questions... are better not asked. ;)

Edit:

I just noticed you're in Tucson. I'll be in Phoenix next week, if you want to take the drive to scottsdale, we can go to the Scottsdale Gun Club, and I'll let you put a couple of clips through my 5.7. And then, you'll want to buy one. Might even talk Torquemonkey into joining.

haha i was at the scottsdale gun club friday. thats where i picked up my socom 2. i might be able to make it saturday afternoon/evening. i actually met torquemonkey once when i first got my ls at a car show in scottsdale. nice guy. i will keep you informed on this weekend maybe ill let you shoot a gun i dont think you have.......... haha the kriss....

i think its a neat concept and a "cool" gun but everytime i shoot it ive had problems with ammo feed. its not mine its a buddys. to much money for something i cant carry. and i dont have an atf tax stamp so the 16 inch barrel just isnt my style:cool:

its not fully auto. and its the fact that i dont want the long barrel i want the short barrel.
