I've used "Torque" with my Droid phone and the PLX Devices KIWI Bluetooth adaptor. It works pretty good but you have to do a lot of research to get everything you want up there. Out of the box it pretty much does RPM, % Throttle, Boost/Vaccuum, Temperature, Speed (wheel-reported and GPS), Drive Cycle, and some others. I tried to get it to read what gear I am in so I could log the shift-points but I haven't found that magical PID just yet. I'll have to give the one you found a try.

My idea was just a cheap data logger so I could see what the car was doing when combined with the built in camera on my phone.

My car is an '06 LS V8 Sport in case you were wondering about compatibility. I haven't had any issues with mine but from what I understand the OBD2 interface is half the battle. I have also heard that buggy interface software can also make the cars do strange things like stall and not start etc.

Also, the "PID"s or "Property IDentifier" are different from ECU to ECU, not to mention manufacturer to manufacturer. There are some generic ones that work for all, but you will likely have to spend some time digging around to get the very specific ones like Gear Select, Transmission Temp, Steering Angle, O2, MAF, etc etc. The ones I listed above are the generic ones except the Gear Select :)

But for $100-$150 I don't think you can go wrong. The adapter I bought was $95 direct from manufacturer and the paid app was $2.50 I think. Also got free updates but I will try the one you found to see if it does what I need.

i have this for my pc. but they had only made it for iphone and ipad. they just realesed a android version in the last few weeks. the software is in the android market for 50 bucks. im sure you could get it for the android tablets also just like the ipad. thers a ton of stuff you can view with it even reset check engine light.

I have the free version of Torque, and an eBay "Made-in-China" Bluetooth OBD2 adapter. Not as pretty as that product, but like the poster above said, it can do quite a bit. I got it mainly to use in place of a (more expensive) dedicated code reader. I also use it to track engine and transmission temps when towing with my F150.

bigstick, did you end up looking into this? I just purchased the PLX Devices Kiwi Wifi. I am either going to get Rev2 or DashCommand.

DashCommand was just updated on 9/21/2011. Rev has not been updated since 1/14/2010.

Thanks
TG
