hi -

I have noticed that for months now, when I first cycle the key I get some strange noise coming from the dash area. Seems to be around the gauge cluster/defrost vents. Occasionally I hear it after shutdown as well. It sounds like a guinea pig is grunting under there, lol .

Here is a quick video I took the other day. My best guess is something HVAC related, but let me know what you all think.

Normal. Climate control servos moving, both at startup and after shutdown. After you turn the car off, they will do this for a few minutes as well. On shutdown, they usually wait several seconds to start doing it, so most never notice it since they are out of the car by then.
The older the car gets, the more noticeable the noises are.

I have this as well. Seems like my sound is the degas bottle venting. If you open it and relieve the pressure, the sound goes away. It has gotten louder over time, no issues. I did a complete cooling system overhaul for an unrelated problem and the sound still exists. Doesn't seem to be anything to worry about. Annoying once you notice it though lol.

That really shouldn't be. Anyway, you can get the noises in his video just by going out to the car with the engine cold, turn the key on (don't start the engine), and then turn the key back off.

Sorry I'm on satellite Internet for the next few weeks, no youtube for me :( I just assumed it was the same as mine lol. Maybe I have a problem after all hahahaha
