so i have a 2001 Lincoln LS, around 40,000 miles, i start my car last night and i notice a yellow light comes on in my dash, it is circular with an exclamation point in the middle and lines around the circle, the manual says its the, llight for the "master light switch" i have no clue what this means, and all of my inside and outside lights seem to be working find? anyone have any advice or previous experience?

nevermind, it was the bulb warning light, meaning one of my lights is blown

Have you checked all exterior lights? Headlights, turn signal bulbs, brake lights? The message you are getting only pertains to the exterior lights.

Do you have the V6? If so, you don't have the message center like the V8 guys which will tell you the one that is out. Check them all very carefully.

im at work now, i just went outside on break and checked the front lights, fog lamps, turn signals and high beams...its too bright outside to be able to tell if its a brake light, but im guessing it has to be since all the front ones are working fine...anyone ever changed the brake light? is it easy to get to?

oh damn, so you cant access it through the trunk or anything like that? Does it pop out or what?

To access the tail light bulbs follow these instructions:

1. Open trunk and pull down the lining directly behind the tail light
2. Remove three nuts holding the tail light on
3. Pull the tail light straight out.
4. Replace bulbs as needed.

The tail lights on the trunk lid are different. I recommend you look at this tech article I have on my website:

http://www.lskoncepts.com/Grille Rear Surround Paint.pdf

On pages 2 and 3 show you how to access the back of the tail lights. Those tail lights have two small nuts that have to be removed. Then there is a retaining clip that has to be released. Just be careful not to crack the tail light.

oh ok so i have a bulb on the trunk lid portion...and the portion of the light that is beside the trunk as well? sorry, just got this LS last week lol

Yes. The 2000-2002 Lincoln LS has lights in the trunk lid tail light assemblies. The 03-06 LS's only have reflectors there now.

oh ok, guess ill have to wait until dark before i can see which one it is, pretty sure when i looked at my lights last night all the rear lights appeared to be working, so im guessing its a brake light...do you know if that is the one in the trunk lid or on the car?
