My car is in the shop today. I finally took it in since it has been giving me harsh shifting under certain conditions and there is kind of a stumble/rumble between gears, noticable between 3-4-5.

Sounds like the dealer is going to go with the new TSB that came out early this month and replace the solenoid pack etc..

My 2004 LSV8 has only about 15,000 miles on it and I have had it since 14,000. It seems as if the harsh shifting has gotten more frequent or I have gotten better at forcing it, and the rumble between gears seems more noticable. So, I had to take it in since I am sure this isn't normal.

I'll let you know what I think when I pick up the car Friday. I wonder if Ford improved the solenoid pack so it won't degrade again or whether they just put in the same old thing and hope for the best. At least I get a partial(at least) ATF change out of it. I really am sceptical about 100K ATF changes.

Wonde rif they will give me my keyless passcode or not, service manager said "sometimes it is hard to do". I was under the imporession they could just read the code out of the computer. If I don't get it, I get to dive into the dash or wherever to see if I can find it printed on the computer as the manual says but doesn't describe.

Let ya know more by this weekend.

Jim,
I'm sure that now you are enjoying your LS a bit more. Just had my LM dealer replace my solenoid pack and valve body (as just over 6k) miles. Mechanic that has worked on my Mark did the LS work and said that he cleared the PCM so the trans would learn my driving patterns. Shifts smoother than the Mark and I sure have trouble keeping my foot out of it. My son drove it Saturday and said it was wicked fast -- as fast as his 5.0 Mustang when he had 6 lbs of boost on it. Now he has 12 and a new chip and its way fast! I think the dyno said he has 406 lb of torque and 390 hp. Too much of a car for an old guy like me. Enjoy giving everyone that LS smile. Lincolnlov

I would expect another solenoid pack will be in order in about another 15k or so miles. Mine faile dat about the same rate until they replaced the valve body during the last repair. You will still be under warranty by then but if this were near teh end of the warranty the failure would convientently fail just after the 12mo/12k general repair warranty.

I am going to replace VB and SP if it does that! I could sell the boosted Mustang and be done with it.

:)
