The a/c on my 96 deville all of a sudden stopped blowing cool air, it blows warm eventhough the temp is all the way down to 60. it doesnt have a leak. i did notice that in the temp control it says econ instead of auto. and when i go to put it on auto, it changes itself back to econ. it wont stay on auto. so im wondering if this could b the problem, or is it something else? any ideas?

Or would it put itself in this (econ) mode because it may b low?

Most automatic ac/heat systems have a failsafe that kicks to econ from ac if there is a problem, such as condensor, low charge etc... We had the same situation you had with our 95 buick lesabre on a 95 degree day in june several years ago. It turned out to be the condensor but if the system just needs charged it will disbale the ac as well. Ac systems can also be flushed out and refilled if you don't just want to top off the system, though i'm not sure of its cost. Also make sure to check the ambient tempature as the pressure shown on the gauge of the recharge cans is only for a certain temp range. If you check their websites or sometimes on the can they tell you what pressure you want at what tempatures. If you go by the gauge you could end up under or overcharging the system. I used arctic chill ultra synthetic and with as hot as it was when I did it the gauge was off by about 10 psi.
