Hey I'm a new member here and looking for a little encouragement. I've been more of a Ford/Lincoln man  Anyway, I just bought a 1994 Deville Concours and was wondering whether I did the right thing. Here are the details -- 46,000 miles, northstar engine, a couple of relatively minor body dents, price $3,200. There are a couple of things that concern me. Warning messages scrolling across the instrument gage say low refridgerant in the A/C system and something about an air suspension malfunction. I'm aware of how expensive Lincoln air suspension issues can be to repair. Does anyone know if the Cadillac systems are as expensive? Any suggestions on what to check first? Also, the radio works but the CD and tape player do not. Has anyone had similar problems?

Thanks for any information and, did I do the right thing??

Sounds like you got a good deal on a car with only minor, if not normal problems.

First, the two easy things. The A/C system in 91-93's was prone to chronic failure - I'm not sure if this holds true to a 94, but if you have the A/C serviced and it still doesn't work, you better like rolling your windows down. The radio is the same - In 91-93's, you were lucky if the tape/CD player worked for a month after you got it off the lot. Very prone to failure - My suggestion would be to buy an aftermarket deck.

Second, I do not believe the air suspensions are quite as expensive as Lincolns, but I could be wrong. A malfunction could be any number of things - If it is throwing a specific code, list it and I will look it up for you. Most likely it is just an old air shock that needs replaced, which is not a big problem nor is it very expensive.

All in all, yes, you got a good car for a good price. The problems you listed have listed are fairly minor things on these cars.

decent car, i prefer towncars of the 90s over devilles of the 90s. but post 2000 deville all the way.
