how dangerous is it to spray nitrous on a engine that is 15 yrs. old. i'm thinking about going with the NOS but i'm a little worried about damaging the motor. as it stand right now my motor is completly stock with 160,000 miles on it. i have already purchased a brand new cobra upper and lower intake for it and have plans for upgrading the cam and a set of gt-40 heads. i'm pretty sure that will take care of the top end of the motor but i didnt plan on getting into the crank so i'm not sure if the bottom end will blow out on me or not. i know some of you guys out there are spraying or have tried it can you let me know what modifications need to be made in order to use the stuff safely without wrecking your motor. :feedback :nos:

I know Sifrino had a nitrous setup on his Mark a while back, and as far as I know all his internals were stock... BUT, I don't think Sifrino had 160,000 miles on his. Chime in BMNLSC, NYCLSC :waving:

I plan to go with the ZEX dry kit, which seems to be the safes out there, they just came out with an airfilter which has the nozzle build in which eliminates the need to drill holes. I am having 168k miles on mine and it runs very strong. I am only going for a 75 hp setup for now and see how it goes from there. I plan to install it by the end of the month - if you do yours first, let me know how it goes.

:C

I run 200 hp on a Mopar of mine. The key to nitrous is a strong bottom and good pistons. Be sure to pull timing out and DEFINATELY make sure you have good fuel pressure to your solonoids. I would probably not run nitrous on a motor of that mileage, that's just me. Some will. Nitrous puts a large load on ring lands, ignition, crank, rods, and bearings. Something to think about. Nitrous is like a chick with an STD. You want to hit it, but your afraid of the consequenses!! Save your money and rebuild your short block. Then put the spray on her. Hope this helps. :Beer :nos:

the chick reference is pretty much exactly how NOS makes me feel and is exactly why i havent taken the plunge yet. i think i will build the motor, not to mention my buddy just blew the bottom end out of his Yamaha R1 spraying nitrous on the motor.

Nah, not really. Don't know the first thing about nitrous, although my bud Nick wants me to get it to see if I can beat his 11.95 @ 113

His car, back in the day on the juice:

DAMN!!! That's a hell of a launch, what did he have for mods?

Heads, exhaust, 4.10, Tremec TKO, nitrous from what I can remember. We're chillin' tomorrow so I'll ask him again lol

Sticky tires and a 6000rpm launch help though ;)
