Republicans' health-care plan is for Americans to "die quickly."
Congressional leaders weighed in Thursday on a Florida Democrat's assertion from the floor of the House that Republicans' health-care plan is for Americans to "die quickly." Republicans continued to call for an apology from Rep. Alan Grayson, but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggested that was a hypocritical demand.
Grayson's statement Tuesday night has ricocheted around the blogosphere and the halls of Congress. Republicans are demanding an apology, just as Democrats did with Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) in September.
Grayson has not only refused to apologize, but further drew the GOP's ire by referring Wednesday night on the House floor to the deaths of those lacking health insurance as a "holocaust." (He later acknowledged that wasn't "the best choice of words.) Then he said on CNN that Republicans were "knuckle-dragging Neanderthals."
