Different AC Compressor Part Numbers

So I ordered an AC compressor from an auto recycler and they took it to the shop. My mechanic calls me and treks me it's the wrong one because the bracket is too big. No big deal. I Call the recycler and they promise to swap it for the right one. I get a call from my mechanic after the second one is delivered. Wrong part again! WTH? I call them and they say they are matching up the part number but will try again because they are pulling another one tonight and will deliver in the morning. They know it's a 2001 3.8. Are there that many different AC compressor choices?

What do you mean by the bracket is too big? On gen II, it's just the compressor. There's no bracket with it. The mounting features are a part of the compressor case.

The compressor they sent was from a V-6, the mounting points are longer on the V-6 than the V-8.
