Okay so my Lincoln LSE has an alphine 6 disk and what appears to be 6 speakers. 2 in the front doors, 2 in the rear, and 2 on the console close to the pedals.

my question is what are the different factory set ups for the speakers, amps, subs, and stereos for the 2002 LS/LSE

thanks

Sounds like you have the audiophile system. You should have four 5x7's in the doors powered by the head unite, two 6x9" subs in the rear deck lid powered by a 85 watt amp, and two 3.5" speakers in the center I believe they also have there own amp but I could be wrong. Lincoln calls it a 12 speaker setup because the door speakers are two way speaker.

The other option in 02 was just 4 speakers powered by the HU no sub's or DSP like the audiophile system has.

Try pressing button 3 and 6 at the same time that should activate the speaker test.

ok i got a question. i also have the 6 disc in the glove box that says alpine. 2 speaker near the floor and im sure speakers in the doors and back so based on that which system do i have?

Do you have a tape deck if so dose it say alpine on the door for it or just the changer? Im not sure but from looking at the 2000's manual I'd guess you had the premium package. Is it just me or dose anyone elise think Lincoln offered too menny audo packages on the LS I meen there where four diffrent head unit options alone.

the weird thing is there arent any grills for speakers on the rear deck lid. so how would I check to see if there are speakers back there?

okay I ran the speaker test.

First it tested the two speakers in the front 2 doors, then the two in the back two doors. then it said subwoofer 1 and it sounds like I have a sub in the trunk (though I dont see one), and finally it said subwoofer II and it tested the 2 speakers in the console by the pedals.

So does this mean I dont have the speakers in the rear deck lid but I have a sub? Where is the sub located?

thanks

The "speakers" in the package tray (rear deck) are the subwoofers. That contraption you see hanging below the package tray in the trunk (in my '04, it's covered in the same material as the rest of the trunk) houses the amp for the subs. IIRC, they're 6x9s, but don't quote me on that.

is there a way to take off the cover for the amp and subs and still be able to put it back in place as if it was never removed in the first place?

In my 02 its just held on my some pushpins facing the back of the trunk if you drop the seats and get in the back you can pull it down with ease you don't even have to take the pins out since there is nothing but a couple of tabs holding it in towards the front of the car you will see two 6x9's and a small 85 watt amp in between them there will also be no base whatsoever with this cover down it acts like a speaker box and allows the speakers to resonate.
