Besides the supercharger and belt setup...what are the diffrences between the two?

(mostly aiming at...could you just slap on an 03/4 supercharger on the 01/02 and be set to fly at like 10lbs?

the 99/01 cobras are an alum block, forged crank, hyper pistons and powdered metal rods.. not good for higher boost.. 6-8psi..about the same stuff we have outside of the forged crank.

03/04 cobras are cast block, forged crank, forged Manley rods, forged pistons (Mahle?) built to handle boost..

the 03 stuff will bolt up to a 99, but it wont take all the boost you can throw at it.. its not as easy as it sounds to bolt up, hence why you dont see alot of older cobras running around w/ 03 blower setups..

gotcha gotcha....so my best bet would be to either grab an 03/04 motor itself, or build up the mk block?

probably.. i'd stick with the preferred Teksid block that you have now. hwy downgrade and gain weight or get a weaker block?

either way your looking at a fair chunk of $$

so are the VIII's, just a different material. :p

would the mk's alum be better than the cobra's iron?

IMO, yes. Stronger and lighter.

yeah nothing beats an early mark viii teksid block.

sean hyland says the first series mark viii blocks were good for 900 hp.

:)~~~
