my car has been overheating, i've replaced the radiator since it cracked, still overheating, i took the thermostat out but i'm having people telling me i need it others saying i dont, i live in Miami, is this necessary???

I am going to assume you have a gen II V8 based on your other recent post (it would be really nice if people would say the year an engine when they have a problem).

Yes, you very much need to have a thermostat installed if you want the engine to last. (and better gas mileage and so on)
Having the thermostat removed is hardly going to help you with your overheating problem. It was wide open when you overheated anyway.

This is what you need to do to solve the overheating problem before you kill the engine. I know you will say that it doesn't need all that, but all of those parts start to fail at the same time.

yea gen 2 v8, yea i went and just bought it and put it in, appreciate the link to the other thread, i think it's time for me to move on from this car, i've already dumped a ton of money into over the last 6 months and its just one thing after the other

I see you have now had that car for over 5 yrs. and have now got 164K miles? So depending on how you've serviced it,or the conditions you drive in,it might be time to find a car with less miles.
don-ohio :)^)

yea she's served me well, bought her with like 56k on it so i have no complaints

Yeah, everyone has to make the decision sometime. I generally run em to 150K or more, make sure they're roadworthy, and then give them to one of my 5 sons.LOL! don-ohio :)^)

yea just wanna get this running as a decent second car, still looks good, runs good when it's not overheating hahaha, but def time for a new car

Yeah, that's the thing with the LSes.......they always look so good! You hate to let em go. don-ohio :)^)

i know thats what is killing me and noone understands it they just keep sayings "y r u throwing so much money into that car" and its cause i love my damn car but i guess there comes a time that we all must move on

Yep! We LS lovers know EXACTLY what yer saying. They are almost always the best looking car on the lot, unless someone else pulls in in an LS.
Whether I drive my LS or my red 05 Mustang convertible, I almost always turn to my wife and say,`STILL the best-lookin car on the lot!' And she agrees. LOL! don-ohio :)^)

My daughter is in that boat with her 2000. At the last check-up it had we were told the rear suspension bushings were starting to wear and would need replacement. The repair will cost more than the car's worth so we're starting the process of looking for a replacement. The short list includes the IS250/350. Also the Infiniti G... No FWD appliances for my little girl!!!!

They really broke the mold when they designed the Lincoln LS's looks. I'd probably be replacing the rear bushings and hanging on to it! LOL! don-ohio :)^)
