Many times the political threads turn into religion debates, do you think it would be a good idea to make a religion forum?

As long as the forum is not directly linked to the site. As you have stated, Politics and Religion tend to go hand in hand. I am of the belief that there would be negative “bleed over” from the polarizing philosophies and adversarial characteristics that are attached to these types of discussions impacting the flow of Automotive Tech. and Pin up girl bliss.

I have enjoyed many discussions/arguments as they are presented by contributors on this site. However, to often the name calling and bullying begin and the spirit of debate gets lost. This does lock the efforts into a playground escapade and dulls the senses. Should a Forum be developed outside of this genre, I would gladly visit and add my .02 to the fray.

Please...no.

Religion is fine to talk about and with the current global situation it is impossible to speak of politics and not bring in religion. The only problem is when people either take the opportunity to convert or prove to all reading how "godly" they are. That's where the problem resides.

The last thing we need is a "my god is better than your god" forum.

Well, make up your mind. Do you want a thread or a forum? Nobody's stopping you from opening a Religion Thread.

No way, i get beat down enough from the political thread thank you very much :D

Obviously I meant a forum, saying thread was a mistake Mean Mr. Mustard..

FreeFaller, that's not what I had intended, a 'My God vs Your God' forum. Just a forum to discuss theology.

I don't see the point in creating an entire forum for something that only comes up in politics, as Freefaller said. Politics and religion are very closely linked, and it's too laborious to have to jump out of a thread just because somebody's crossed the line into religious topics.

There's no phrase "separation of church and state" in the Constitution, and there shouldn't be "separation of politics and religion" in here.

Sure, you're absolutely welcome to that point of view and please vote 'NO', but stop trying to stomp on my freedom of speech and censor me.:D

Also, it's not my intention to not allow religion in a politics thread, just be nice to have a forum for those people who may like to debate just religion and share ideas.

I think that it is fair to say that the "my god is better than your god" complex is the root problem and confusion amongst people, to this day.

It is the same God amongst all of us, for the vast majority that believe in God. The interpretations of God, as evidenced in religions, is the problem.

The problem is, "my religion is better than your religion."

What are you doing, trying to start a debate in Deville's poll thread?

That statement isn't even close to true.

Deville! Vitas is trying to hijack your thread!

He does have a point though; one God with many interpretations...

It's 3 'Yes' and 8 'No', so it's safe to say people would rather not have a religion forum; so it's all good in the hijacking. No worries Vitas. :)

Realizing that politics and religion go hand-and-hand, I don't think that it is necessary to create a religous forum.
