hey im putting a k&n air fliter on my lincoln ls V8 is it gonna be worth putting one on do u think its gonna be loud? :L

It may help it breathe alittle better but I do not think it well be too much louder. I was going to get one when I got the stuff for my next oil change but the damn place did not have any.

Get some electrical contact cleaner; you will need it to clean teh MAF once in a while.

i want to put a cone on it tho im gonna take the stock fliter off and put a cone would that be louder? thanxs

Yeah it will give a bit of a swoshing sound from the engine compartment but hard offensive by any measure. There is a difference in sund between the K&N OEM filter and a cone. If you are going to use something like and K&N though you will need to clean the MAF periodically.

how is this so different then the regular air filters that it adds performance and is 5x's more expensive?

Here is some info from there website. I personally use them in all my cars except my 67 Jaguar. They work great and you never have to worry about them. Hassle free is how I would put it stateproperty3423.

Washable and Reusable

All of our air filters are washable and reusable. They can be easily cleaned and oiled using our K&N Recharger kits and returned to your vehicle up to 25 times. We recommend you check your air filter every 30,000 miles, however, under most street conditions the filter will not require cleaning until 50,000 miles of continuous use. And yes, we’ve heard the stories of customers who ran their K&N filter for 100,000 miles without a cleaning, but we believe cleaning after 50,000 miles to be the most beneficial service life without sacrificing air flow.

What’s the Big Deal About Air Flow?

Simply put, Everything! At its most basic level, an engine is an air pump. More air entering the engine increases the efficiency of the combustion process creating more horsepower and torque. Horsepower is a measure of the engine's maximum power while torque measures how quickly you can accelerate.

The K&N Filtercharger® is designed to increase engine performance in both horsepower and throttle response by reducing air flow restriction.

Maintaining optimal, unrestricted air flow becomes a problem when it must pass through a filtering medium. The level of air resistance varies depending on the size, surface area and physical attributes of the filtering medium.

Well I hope this puts your answer to a rest stateproperty3423.

Good luck!

Thanks alot el es and ohio ls

ohio you should work for k&n advertising cause I think i'm going to pick one up now :Beer

no worries. I think the benefits out weigh the maintenance issues. Just keep in mind that if you car starts running poorly you will want to hit the MAF with some cleaner that leaves no residue.

Be careful if and when you do clean the MAF a replacement is about 160 dollars.

wuts a MAF do and where is it?

Mass Air Flow sensor. It is between the throttle body and the air filter. It has two splinded screws that holds it down and is rectangular in shape. Sits right on top of the air tube.

You mentioned in this thread to clean the MAF, how do you do this and with what?
