I have been spraying this WD40 in my door jams everyday for the last week and that damn door ajar thing will not go away, openining and shutting after i spray about 50 times and its still there. I am going crazy. I cant check any of my stats or anything.

Make sure it is not all gummed up, nice and clean, you can use contact cleaner ( I have a can from Radio Shack) then maybe some WD40. If all else fails the switch may need to be replaced as listed above. Not too fun, but not too awful either.

Those sensors in the door panel still need to be changed. In my 97 I had that problem, and WD-40 did not help at all. I orderd those new parts from Max.

Well if that switch goes though your dome lights stay on, its has nothing to do with the door-ajar message - trust me. If you remove the switch and close the door - lights stay on, but no message unless something was changed on Gen IIs, but I dont think so...

a quick addition is needed for the door switch/wd40 fix. make sure your spraying UP into the latch mechanism, the switch lives near the top.

My MN12 cougar had the same problem, except with the auto seatbelts it had, its even more of a pain when the switch sticks. (seat belt motor is controlled by same switch).

In the Gen II's the switch part SW-5528 works the dome light. I didn't have a problem with my Door Ajar switch. I bought it however from Max. That part number is SW-5195. I am not sure if the Gen II uses both of these switches. I ended up not needing the 5195 swith.

Mine work fine ever since,I'am going on almost 3 yrs. sprayed it once when i had the problem. i sprayed very lil and waited as i lock and open door till it stop saying doorajar in message center., i think was my 3rd opening and closing hatch with key., then shutting door.
