door lock question

For some reason, the door lock on the drivers side of my 02 LS will not lock or unlock using the stock remote. The remote will lock/unlock all the other doors; but not the drivers door. Also, the drivers door cannot be unlocked using the "master" unlock on either the drivers door or the passenger door. The only way to lock and unlock the drivers door is to manually do it from inside the car.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what is the fix?

This has come up before (one door lock not working), and it was the actuator for that door lock. The actuator is an internal part of the door latch assembly.

To replace it, you have to buy the door latch assembly.
One member disassembled the door latch assembly and found a lever that was out of place. He reconnected it, and I believe that it has worked ever since.

In your particular case, it is also possible that you have a fault in the DDM (Driver's Door Module), or the wiring to/from it. The DDM controls the front driver's door lock (among other things). The other three door locks are all controlled from the REM (Rear Electronics Module).

No.
Almost all aftermarket alarms do the equivalent of you pressing the lock or unlock button inside the car.

agreed, adding a aftermarket keyless just gives the DDM the signal to unlock as if you where turning the key in the door (without actually turning the key cylinder) so if the car is not unlocking now then it still wont unlock then for the exact same reason.
