I noticed that when I hit the gas in my T/C, it only downshifts 1 gear. I had a Grand Marquis of the same year (89), and that would do 3-1 and 4-2 shifts at WOT. Why are they different? Same motor/tranny, I dont know why Ford would do that. What do I have to do to get my T/C to kick down 2 gears? Does it have something to do with the length of the TV cable??? (Which by the way is fine and the grommet is not broken off of the throttle) I NEED MORE HIGHWAY PASSING POWER!!! :Bang

Start with a shift kit. There are TONS of good ones for the AOD (B&M, Trans-Go, Lentech, Baumann, etc.) Best part is, they're dirt cheap! Later, when you get the money, build-up an AOD using 4R70W parts.

...And if you want more passing power, convert to MAF and do an HO swap. I know you'll appreciate the extra 75hp...

But there must be SOMETHING I can modify to make it downshift 2 gears. I mean, it's the same exact setup as my Grand Marquis was. I would LOOOOVE another 75 horses!!! There will be another 15-20 horses soon :gr_devil: dual exhaust... I want to keep the car silent though, so people are like HOLY SH!T!!!
