hey guys...its been a while, but once again something has broke on the LS  ...surprise, surprise lol...

anyway...i went to get in the car today and i forgot to unlock the door apparently, but it opened anyway...alarm went off, but i thought it was weird that the door was unlocked....well i guess i hadnt noticed that my drivers door dosent lock...who knows how long this has been going on :shifty:....

...the lock/unlock switch on both the drivers and passenger door operates all the other locks just fine. I tried operating the drivers lock manually (thinking it was just "hung up" - which has happened before on the passengers side) and it locks/unlocks...but thats the only way to lock the drivers door. The key wont even lock/unlock it from the outside (which is also an electric mechanism apparently). I can hear a "click" around the handle when its supposed to lock/unlock by using the switch...but idk if thats the switch itself or a malfunction.

Any one with any ideas? im gonna pull the door panel off and investigate tomorrow, but wtf! ...any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks

The actuator is a part of the door latch assembly (bolted to the side of the door on the inside). The internal parts are not sold separately. The suggested repair is to replace the assembly. Some on here have been able to take it apart and repair it.

thanks alot joe...awesome, as usual...thanks...

...now im thinking the actuator is gonna be connected to the door lock switch by a pigtail, so worse case scenario...get the latch/actuator assembly from the junkyard i guess

...what exactly goes wrong with it?...mechanical parts that need lube/cleaning...or??

thanks again

I've heard that one of the levers inside jumps out of place sometimes.

It's connected to the DDM, not the switch directly. The electrical connection is easy to disconnect and reconnect. The mechanical rod the connects the latch to the door handles can be a pain to disconnect at the latch.

...understood. thanks again for your much needed input joe...im gonna have to fix this kinda soon, so ill let you know how it goes

What was the outcome?
I have 3 of 4 go bad within a few months time
