Ok so hears the deal:
went out to my car today, opened door, drivers seat starts moving back but making a loud clicking sound...ooookay WTF

so i get in, close door, seat doesnt move up. it makes the clicking sound and the motor is running, but seat no moves.
is it possible that something came off track or something? thats what it sounds like. everything else works.... just not the most important part for someone that is 5'9'' and the seat is in a 6'1'' person's position! lol

any idea's.... Im having same problem

Are there any serviceable parts, Seems like a gear is stripped by the sound. I pulled seat out a there is problem with tracks, its internal as in the gear box that the 3 motors attach.

heck the obvious - object stuck in the tracks, if nothyng then suspect a gear is stripped.

Must strip easily

I have a friend who is a little on the large side, and after he was in my 96 passenger side, it does the same thing. I am going to be tearing into them soon to see if it is an easy fix. in the mean time, you can usually get in behind the seat and push forward while using the button to make the seat go forward.

On a side note, does anyone know what controls the auto forward on the seats when someone is trying to get in the back? It used to work, but it just stopped.

This happened to me but I can't remember if it was the Mark or the Town Car or even my wife's Toyota as it was many years ago.

I seem to remember that the seat is driven by an acme screw drive and the a two piece nylon-like "bolt" wrapped around the screw. The two halves of the "bolt" live in a housing that can be opened for service and removal and mine had popped open allowing the screw to turn but it didn't engage the "bolt" to move the seat. It just ratcheted. I think I just snapped shut or it had a retainer that I reseated around the housing.

This may be a bit vague but it may help!
