Hey guys i need some help getting this infernal valve cover off. My plug tower seals were leaking really badly so i am going through and replacing all the seals but now that im in waist deep i wish i had left them alone. I have so far removed the drivers side ignition coil, wiring harness, power steering bracket, moved the master cylinder, moved all the vacuum crap, unbolted and pushed the power distribution box out of the way, removed the engine mount bolt, and lifted the engine with a jack. None of this gave me the space i need to get the cover off, it's very close to coming out but not quite. I really don't want to mess with the booster, would taking the wiper motor off give me the clearance i need? The passenger side was easy comparatively.

I would think you should be able to get it off by removing the wiper moter cowl. I've pulled them in the junkyard by doing much less than you have so far, so I'm kinda surprised that it's not coming out yet, but every car's different.

Use a saws-all.....:shifty:

Seriously though, with the motor mount bolt out you should be able to get it past the the brake boost. Do you have a picture of where it is getting hung up exactly?

I don't have a picture but it either hits the wiper motor or the brake booster when lifting it off. I cant seem to clear the brake booster even when lifting the engine and as i lift it the cover gets closer to the wiper motor so it hits that on the very last 1/4" of the cover. It's like the cover is too wide to get over the cams and around those two things. On the bright side the cams look really good and the timing chains are tight :D i expected worse for 142k miles.

If its a Gen1..remove the Booster, the Fuse/Relay box need not be removed

I got my Gen's 1 off without messing with booster just master. It was a B like mentioned that's for sure. The DPFE on back of drivers head is whats kinda "holding" it from coming off easy.

4 nuts and 1 clip will save so much headache. Just take the booster out

I got it off at last after 2 days of frustration. I removed the upper cowl, loosened the wiper motor, loosened the lower cowl, and pushed the motor up a couple inches with my jack. After prying the lower cowl up slightly it came off, now it's back on there with new seals all torqued and ready to go. I'll have to put all the other stuff back on tomorrow and change the oil. After that i will finally get to really drive it for the first time since buying it.
