I have a early model 94 mark viii she is stock other than true dual 3" exhaust with only front cats. Heard could mod my engine and rear end with out to much trouble. Unsure where to start

So...what gearing would you all recommend, assuming she has a base? I have both base and LSC cars and the only real difference I notice in performance is the fuel mileage! My '96 & '95 bases are quicker than my '98 LSC, and they get 2-3 more mpg than the LSC, all are in good stock tune. What ratio would give a noticeable increase in time to get from here to there without robbing decent fuel economy?

Also, I think some more direction to chips available would be helpful to the question asked. I don't know those answers, but I think better than 3-4 word answers are available and due to a new member. I mean Holy Toledo!

I think gears depend upon the geography and intended purpose. Where I live, in a rural and hilly terrain, 4.10s are just perfect. Someone who lives in more flat terrain and/or has more highway use may opt for 3.73s.

As far as a chip, I'd have to recommend an SCT tune. Everyone has their favorites but a couple places to start would be Blue Oval Chips and Lasota Racing.

3.73 minimum. 4.10s haven't bothered me on the highway.

this has been covered time and again with many peoples thoughts and experiences on all of this stuff.
google knows how to find it.

google like this: site:lincolnvscadillac.com "search terms go here"

Paula stated "Not sure where to start" in bringing her Mark basically, up to speed. Some times the humans involved in the process need to be brought up to speed as well. Welcoming in new members with a respectfull tutoring is a service old timers
can do that might help encourage newb's to participate. Without them(newb's), who is gonna keep the Viii alive, they (newb's) may be the one's who get encouraged and maybe buy our Viii's when we are ready to move on to another project.
Did you/we come here fully aware of how it all works on LVC?

I have always greatly appreciated it when a member has taken the time to help me with an issue I am having that was maybe old and mundane to them.....it encouraged me to stay involved. Many thanks to all for those supportive answers.
Dos

gears (most of us seem to run the 4.10s), Jmod (and have the accumulator springs/plungers looked at while doing the Jmod), SCT tune (or BlueOvalChips)................
Then start with chassis/rear diff-carrier braces. The braces will hold the extra uumph you put out and will make the rear of the car MUCH more planted and responsive. Cobra brakes may be the next upgrade to look into (no need to go fast if you can't STOP it!).

P.S: Change the trans fluid/filter as well. Go to Mercon V and never look back. Also, add an auxiliary trans cooler, the 4R70s run HOT.

Lots of info thanks just want my car to be able to get it when I put my foot in it. Sucks on take off right now
