You're an 19 year old kid. You're critically wounded, and dying in the jungle in the Ia Drang Valley , 11-14-1965, LZ X-ray, Vietnam . Your infantry unit is outnumbered 8 - 1, and the enemy fire is so intense, from 100 or 200 yards away, that your own Infantry Commander has ordered the MediVac helicopters to stop coming in.

You're lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns, and you know you're not getting out. Your family is half-way around the world, 12,000 miles away, and you'll never see them again. As the world starts to fade in and out, you know this is the day. Then, over the machine gun noise, you faintly hear that sound of a helicopter, and you look up to see an un-armed Huey, but it doesn't seem real, because no Medi-Vac markings are on it.

Ed Freeman is coming for you. He's not Medi-Vac, so it's not his job, but he's flying his Huey down into the machine gun fire, after the Medi-Vacs were ordered not to come.

He's coming anyway.

And he drops it in, and sits there in the machine gun fire, as they load 2 or 3 of you on board.

Then he flies you up and out through the gunfire, to the Doctors and Nurses.

And, he kept coming back.... 13 more times..... And took about 30 of you and your buddies out, who would never have gotten out.

Medal of Honor Recipient, Ed Freeman, died last Wednesday at the age of 80, in Boise , ID......May God rest his soul.....

I bet you didn't hear about this hero's passing, but we sure were told a whole bunch about some Piece OF $hit Hip-Hop Coward beating the crap out of his "girlfriend."

Medal of Honor Winner Ed Freeman! RIP!

Shame on and GOD DAMN the American Media.

right on brother.im tired of the media reporting on the crap that doesnt matter. ie how many iraqi prisoners that were supposedly mistreated that are now getting released from gitmo. how about how many of our heros in arms died to defend an idea of freedom?this is coming from one veteran of this god forsaken war.

What really PISSES me OFF beyond RAGE is when I am out shopping and the Wife and I see these incredible people (Vets) outside stores BEGGING for money?? Are you freaking kidding me? This Piece of dog$hit Government is so far gone NOT to help these people it makes me physically sick!!

These were once respected and feared individuals reduced to begging! This god dammned Government should put them in freaking Palaces!! NOPE they just ruin their lives and throw them out (forget them totally) SCUM GOVERNMENT!!

MY ADVICE, do NOT go into the Service!!

the governments new policy that they are trying to push into law is that when veterens separate from the military due to a service connected disability ie losing a leg, arm, ect. that they will have to pay theyre own medical bills. hows that for BS. THE GOVERNMENT HAS NO CARE FOR NOTHING BUT PUTTING MONEY, YOUR AND MINE, IN THERE POCKETS. BOTTOM LINE.

the media has destroyed everyone's minds. they only cover stories that pay them, they dont care about people who make a difference in this world, they cover the people who make this world sound like one huge pile of s**t. i dont turn the tv on anymore and hardly listen to the radio, the stuff the media talks about now is totally useless to me and i dont give a rat's ass about any of it. R.I.P Ed Freeman, you'll be honored where ever you are now, unlike here on earth where you did such a great thing for your brothers.

I just shed a few tears after reading this post. I am a Vietnam era veteran who was sent to Germany instead of the war zone. I think that it's a disgrace and an insult to every veteran and our brothers and sisters currently wearing the uniform of our country that people like Ed Freeman aren't honored and given the respect that is given to our forefathers that displayed the same bravery and disregard for their own life. Our country is strewn with statues and monuments to the men and women who fought in all the wars and conflicts before Vietnam. When the vietnam era veterans returned they were greeted with jeers and name calling and even spat on. To this day, even though it wasn't their fault, the Vietnam veteran is treated with disdain. Only recently, now that so many of the WW2 and earlier veterans have died off, are our elders beginnig to acknowledge the actions of the veterans of the tragedy known as the Vienam Conflict. In this day and age where sports players make millions of dollars per year and the federal government is giving BILLIONS of dollars to failing businesses, I think that our government should do what is necessary to insure that ALL of our veterans never have to live without a roof over their heads, have to worry about their next meal and most of all I feel that our government should administer to all of the medical needs of our veterans no matter how minor or severe. It's a small price to pay. Remember that the only reason that we can live the life we live is that there are men and women, past and present, that have come foward and stood in harm's way, some giving the ultimate sacrifice, and protected us and defended our country. ARE YOU LISTENING PRESIDENT OBAMA???

AMEN BROTHER!!

Mr. Freeman may you rest in peace. And to all the vets from all the wars. Thank you!! Thank you for risking your life, and in some cases giving your life, to give me the right to wear the uniform I wear everyday. I wouldnt be who I am today if it werent for you.

That is a Man that gives true meaning to that feeling we get when sound of the Armed Forces fly over. Dude I get chills every time they fly over. I love my country. True HERO thanks for sharing.
