I'm not an electrical engineer, but in light of the recent posting of the under seat wiring diagrams for the 1st Gens, I'm hoping one of you fine fellows might be able to interpret them and tell me if my new idea might work.

I'm looking at replacing WIRE ASY WPT-7465, the under seat airbag connector

With a standard two pin weather pack connector

Am I crazy, or would this actually work? I'd rather not spend the 60 some odd dollars on a single connector if I don't have to, and if I can upgrade it, that would be even better.

It'll probably work, but there's a reason the connector is yellow.....

Is there a particular reason that you want to use that connector other than cost? I don't see how it's weather resistance is going to help with the wire fatigue failure. I would recommend that you replace it with the same SRS connector, or just splice the wires together (assuming that you won't need to take the seat out anytime soon) if you want to save money.
I wouldn't use crimp pins unless I had the correct crimp tool (expensive).
BTW, I am an electrical engineer.
