hey guys... well, I was hoping that someone here with some knowledge of the Mark VIII's electrical system would be able to give me a hand with this probelm I've been having, and havent been able to figure it out. I'll try and be as specific as possible, to make trouble shooting easier. So please bare with me here.

Ok... so a looong while back, I blew a sparkplug out of the drivers side head of my linc. That evening, after it had been towed home (It was POURING rain that day) I noticed that my dome light was turning on and off out of the blue. It would turn on for like 2 mins and then go out for maybe an hour.... then come back on ect.... So anyway, I disconnected the battery and pushed the gar into the garage and the car stayed like that until I fixed it.

After I got the car back on the road, about a month later, it would do this everytime the car got really wet. When it was dry, it was fine. Once my alarm even started going off after a car wash... but that was the only time that ever happened.

So fast forward to now... the dome light thing never really bothered me all that much as it never drained my battery or anything like that. But since time had passed, the dome light coming on became more frequent and now it does it reguardless of the weather. It could be 80* and sunny and still do it.

Now, recently my turn signals have stopped working. At first I thought I blew a bulb but every once in a while it will start working again... then out of the blue, wont work anymore. I assume it may be related to the dome light thing.

does anyone have any suggestions on what I should look for? I tried spraying down the door pins with wd-40 with no luck. I can imagine there might be a bad ground or stripped wire somewhere that might be causeing this but really don't know where I should even start looking.

another thing that happens every once in a great while is that my keyless entry wont work. I lost my FOB a while ago and since then usually use my keypad to open my doors. It's wierd though because, like I said, sometimes it wont work correctly.

like say for instance, I hit my code (it starts with a "1") and it wont do anything... so I go to enter it again, but when I hit the first number on the pad... suddenly the doors magicly unlock? I mean... how wierd is that?

anyway... the turn signals and the dome light are my top priority right now... I wasnt sure if the keypad thing was related or not, but thought I would throw it in there, just incase it will give more clues to what can be going wrong here.

thanks in advance... it means alot to me.

oh... I should also add that when I'm in the car, with the key turned to the "on" position or in accessory mode that the light doesnt come on. It's ONLY when it's parked and in the off position.

When I drive the car, I never once have gotten a "door ajar" message nor has the dome light came on which confuses me even more.

edit: I also had the car scanned for codes recently with no luck either

I just went outside and double checked, but no... they all look ok

well, i think you can pretty much rule out the door pin wires "grounding out" and causing the light to come on, because the door trigger wire on your car is a positive trigger. The black with light blue striped wire at the pin to be exact.

Now, as for the black with blue making contact with the input wire at the pin, that i could understand. To rule this out, completely disconnect the door triggers on both doors, and see if you are still having your problem. If the problem goes away, replace the bad trigger.

If you are still having a problem, i would say it has something to do with a bad security module, or a lighting module. In that case, locate the module, and replace it with a junk yard item.

As for the water situation, I really think its a totally coincidental thing, but if you have to be for sure about it, drop your dash panels, and remove your kicks/sills and hose the car down generously. then get in side and closely inspect ever inch of wiring and modules.

hey thanks alot for the suggestions :)

I'll take a look at that tonight if I get the chance. I have one question though... how do I remove the pin triggers?

thanks again
