My procedure varies from car to car and how dirty it is. I keep on top of the engine bays in my cars with routine washing, so they don't get any grime or grease build up. This time it was mainly just Meguiar's detailer line APC+ and warm car wash soap solution to clean it all, and after it was dried hyper dressing diluted ~3:1 and final touch-ups with mirror glaze #40. To get everything you will need a large assortment of brushes, too. This was just a quick job to keep it nice. The
full details are much more involved, but I didn't have time. The front timing cover is by far the hardest part to get nice and clean on modular engines, IMO
what coolant and wires are those? and yea what method to clean it? i used gunk and that got a lot of the grease off my engine, i dont wanna have that engine cover on - i like to have stuff accessable
The coolant is just Motorcraft's green. Even though the gold premium/g05 is best, I prefer the look of the green coolant in transparent reservoirs. From the pics, the level is a touch low - haven't topped it off again (flushed it not long ago)
The wires are FRPP 96-98 Cobra plug wires, in red. I wanted it to look like the brochure pictures, with the red ignition wires.
The engine cover does restrict access to a lot of things, but I like the look of it. Luckily it's extremely easy to pull off. I remove it to clean the engine, otherwise it would be nasty under there.
Not quite up to the Merc's level yet....
Still looks amazing though!
No, not quite
This car will never match the Merc's condition - inside, outside, underneath or under the hood, unfortunately. I sure wish it was, though!
