Engine Rev

[2002 LS V8]

I just purchased a 2002 LS V8 and have noticed something odd. When the car is in neutral and you rev the engine it only goes to around 3k rpm. The car will then shake a bit. What causes this? Is anything wrong? Again the car is in netural and NOT in gear. Any insight in this manner would be greatly appreciated. :feedback

the ls has a shutoff at 3k rpm when its in park or neutral. i learned this from quikls after changing my plugs and getting scared taht i messed something up. nothing to worry about your fine

The LS has a pre-set rev limiter at 3000 RPMS while in Park or Neutral. You can have it removed if you purchase the SCT PCM Flasher from www.fordpartsnetwork.com.

Of course, having a rev limiter in a no load situation is a good thing. Revving the piss out of your engine is hard on it.
