engine running rough

Need so help guys. Brought a 96 mark about four months ago. When I brought the car it had 89,000 on it. It ran good and doesn't smoke, only thing it had a slight ticking noise in the engine. I had manual oil pressure test done and everything was ok. The tick appears to go away when rpm's are raised. Today after leaving work I noticed at Idle car was running really rough and accelerated really rough. What could it be or what are my next steps?

Could be plugs/wires. I had the same problem all of a sudden, changed the plugs/wires and everything was fine. Good place to start. :Beer

10-4 that helps. Is there any point of having auto zone check it with the coder?

Changing the plugs and wires is a good idea but it could also be something else causing the rough running engine. I would check codes 1st at the nearest Autozone.

Have the codes checked, I'll bet it's your O2 sensors.

I had a problem as you have on my 95 mk at 53k miles. It was a bad spark plug wire on #2 cyl. Stop at bank if you go to buy some. Good Luck T
