engine swap and 5-speed conversion

i recently purchased a 1992 lincoln mk7 lsc with 240,000 miles on it. inside and out the car look and functions like it has less than 100,000 on it (except the junk air ride) neways the engine in the car runs but i know shes a tired :q
so here is the good part i just bought an 87 mustang 5.0 lx with a strong 5.0 and a baby bottom smooth shifting 5 speed that the insurance company totaled because it got hit in the back corner and pushed the quarter panel out a little bit to where the drivers side door wont open. other than that i drove it home with no problems. so i guess my real question is will the 87 mustang 5.0 and tranny work in the 92 lsc? if so how many mods do i need to make to get it to work? i am a little unsure if the speed density/ maf would change anything. :) with these two cars i feel like a kid in a candy store so i figured i would ask the shopkeepers if this conversion has a sweet center or will it leave a sour taste in my mouth!
 
The basic engine is the same. You'll need to reuse the accessories on the Lincoln, but the short block is identical. For the transmission, you'll need a longer driveshaft. Do it right the first time for yourself and get an aluminum one done up. You can get one from a few different cars, like an Astro Van, and just have it shortened.
 
what would be the price range to spend on getting a driveshaft cut and balanced?
 
I spent $260.00 on a new 3" steel tube, U-Joints and double-cardan joint in PHX.


For you? Local rates vary...

count on at least $100 for the used aluminum driveshaft.. the rest?

It all depends on what you can do. Typical prices that I've seen are around $275-$350. I personally wouldn't pay more than $400 total, and would shoot for <$300. This is for an aluminum driveshaft; if your going to get one that fits, you might as well get one that is lighter and better for performance.
