My 99 Eldorado, which I recently purchased used, permanently shows "Check Coolant Level" on the driver info center display. The temperature needle is always at about a little over the half position, and remains there the whole time.

We have subsequently replaced the coolant and put in a proper amount, but the message keeps coming back everytime I start the car (and stays on while driving).

But the car doesn't seem to be running hot or anything, and like I said, the needle stays at that position.

Can I assume that this is just a faulty sensor? Is the needle position at little over half normal for an Eldo?

The needle on my other two cars, a Focus and a Mustang, always stay way below the half position.

My temp gage stays dead on center after warm up (2000 STS), so that sounds norm. The 'coolant low' sounds like the sensor. I can't remember where it is on that model. Find the wires going to the sensor on the radiator and check the connector. I have had them corrode causing a bad connection on other GM cars. Give the folks here a few days, somebody may have some more percise info.
