So its my first post, thought I’d make it good.

This post is geared more toward the Mech/Auto Engineers out there. I’m currently in school pursuing a Nuclear Engineering Degree (basically a ME degree with a Nuclear twist) and love it. Although, I’ve always wanted to get an engineering job in the high performance automotive field and believe I have the knowledge and street smarts to pursue such a career. Graduated UTI, built a couple cars, bikes and worked in a shop for 5 years. I feel Im just pissing away my life sitting behind a desk doing nuclear stuff. While its cool, its just not for me. But, for the past few years, I get dead ends when trying to get started into the field. There has GOT to be someone on here that has knowledge of how to get kicked off. Would love to hear from some of you!

Look into Roadwhore.com

www.roadwhore.com

DO NOT put an S on roadwhore or lots of nasty things happen, least it did a few years back while my boss was behind me.

This webpage is a page for Nuke workers looking for full, partime or consulting jobs.

Back when I worked for a consulting firm we did a lot of searches there for our nuke staff engineer.

Hope this works for you. The nuke industry is breathing more life since even the greens are starting to see it as a better alternative to more carbon emissions. I guess global warming hysteria is good for some people.

Good Luck,

A good friend of mine got a Masters in Nuclear physics from MIT. In my opinion that is some serious credentials. He took that degree and turned it into a highschool science teaching job. Then he joined my former company as an entry level computer network tech. Today he is the IT director for a decent sized local financial institution.

the route he took was rather odd, but he ended up with a great job making more money than he would likely have made on his original path.

The lesson I learned is that you are likely going to have to start at the bottom and work your way up just like everyone else. Your current degree path might even make it harder for you than just being a kid coming from a vocational school.
