It has been proffed by politicos much more sophisticated than I that there are some very interesting parallels between the movie's scenario that Chancellor Palpatine secretly started a war so that the Senate would grant him emergency powers and George W. Bush's startlingly similar ability to rouse the Supermajority into granting him unquestionable authority. This authority was granted under the guise of protecting the Republic while, in reality, was used to declare the Republic dead and established the Empire. Hmmm!

Yeah have fun with that. Lucas stated himself that since he wrote the story in the early 70's, any similarities are coincidental and unintended. I believe you when you say there are politicos more sophisticated than you. However, they are blowing the same old hot air as always. Against what we are doing in Iraq and Afghanistan because it is insensitive or ethnocentric. Screw that. Yoda kicks ASS!
