I live in a relatively low crime area and of several local train stations, I pick the one I consider the safest when I go to NYC which is about 40 minutes away by rail. I returned around 2:30AM Wednesday to find the sheet metal underneath the door handle warped and pry bar gouges on the underside of the handle. Obviously a breakin attempt abandoned either because it was too difficult or interupted by passersby. Luckily I have a low deductable, but what a PIA! And good luck matching the tri coat ceramic white!

Yup. Had one stolen, and recovered within 5 minutes.

A Sheriff's Deputy friend of mine was crusing my street one night, and saw my car being driven away. As far as he knew, I was out of town, so he was quite annoyed that I didn't call him for our Wednesday night beer and pool ritual (he drinks, I dont).

He was more so annoyed that he had to do all the paperwork after he realized it was not I who was driving, and that in fact the car was being used without my permission... aka stolen.

a couple of LLSOC members have had their car broken into by people punching out the lock in the driver's door handle. What they did was to purchase another passenger door handle and swap it on the driver's door.

then only use their FOB to unlock and lock.

Wow...good luck getting in if the battery dies.

thast pointless.. if u put a slim jim on the right of the door handle u can break the PLASTIC thread that hold the screw in place.. if u do that.. all u have to do is pull up on the pole that leads down because its the part that tells the door lock that its being held on unlock.. and most members here know.. that when u hold ur key in the keyhole and unlock it for 5 seconds.. ur windows roll down..

kinda sad.. but i found that out when i was working on my door lock actuator problem

You can get in through the trunk. ;)
THe reason I know is that someone drilled a hole right under the handel and now the key doesn't work. THe reason for doing that,? beats me I don't even know if i bought it like that or if it happened to me after.

I had a friend with a car just like mine inside and out, without the tinted windows and the sport package. He had just got done working out at the local gym here and laid his stuff on the bench outside the bathroom door. When he came out he had realized his stuff was gone and all the remained was some boxer shorts and shoes. He ran outside and saw his Lincoln being driven away, he was pissed. They got the guys on Camera, they were both 19, I forget who they were, but they recovered the car about 2 weeks later when a Cop saw a black Lincoln LS sitting in an ally. There was some computer problems, the car idled at like 3,000 RPMs and it shifted all wrong, so they messed it up pretty bad. They didnt do any body damage though, it's all fixed and running like a champ again!

BanginLS - you just posted the best way for someone to break into are cars!!!! LOL j/k people that are going to break in and steal :q:q:q:q already new that.....

I parked out front of a buddys house and he told me lock your stuff and take your pda and stuff out because someone broke into my buddys car the other night so I did and the car was parked right infront of his apartment so when I came out i saw a par of black gloves sitten on the ground infront of my car and I freaked I ran around and everything was fine there was a BIG A$$ hand print on the back window(rear driver) window where he tried to pull the frame away but had no luck....I would have been screwed.... kicker 1200.1 (retail 800+) two kicker solo l7's(225+) and the tv and other stuff.....) lucky for me they didnt get in......becareful guys.....

From Now On...

...it's a $7.50 cab ride to the train station. Not as convenient but cheap insurance.

u ohonestly think ppl didnt know that? if they want to break in.. they can

I'm just going to rig mine to blow up when someone tries to steal it. I've got insurance. Hope they got medical. :D

In Johannesburg Africa, I saw a couple of cars with homebuilt flamethrowers that came out from under the driver's side door. Carjacking is a big problem there, and from what I've been able to gather, the flamethrower setups are legal there. I am sure something like that could be adapted to work with an alarm system.
