Has anyone ever pondered a manual tranny in a mark, or is this just completely outta the question.. Ive got limited knowledge of american cars as i just got outta the import scene.. Anyone ever do this? anyone ever hear of this? Or would this just throw the on board computers for a loop? or would their be physical problems with mounting the trans? or whats the deal? any input would be great! :wrench :feedback

Ditto on Mikes a great guy.... LOL. Very skillfull fella.

I took a ride in the 5 spd VIII and it felt like a total different car. Ownage. I want a 5spd now.

i wish he was comming to columbus next weekend but family reason is keeping him home so im not gona get that ride he promised me but some other time that cool :)

Yeah Mike is like the nicest guy on here well one of them man

Man I think about a 5 or 6 speed all the time for my mark VIII. I need to find a wrecked T-bird super coupe for the clutch pedal and stuff. I already located a 5-speed from a 2001 4.6 cobra mustang. now if I could just find the MONEY... well you know how it goes!

how much did it cost for everything? estimate?

That depends on a few things.

I do all of my work myself. that includes fabrication, modification, and installs. when ever you have work done on a car, most of your over all cost is in labor alone.

Going over the parts list I have....

$250 for the tranny(included the shifter)
$50 in supplies to modify it
$515 for a denny's shaft
$500 for the Flywheel and pressure plate
$150 for the Master&Slave cylinder
$75 in supplies for the ECM relocation harness
$100 DM Speed-Cal(for the speedometer)
$5.23+shipping for the cue ball that I made my shifter out of.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

This is a total of $1645.23

Now, I did all of the work myself which would normally cost around 45-55 bucks an hour. If you looked at the pictures of the job you'll see the wiring harness mod I had to do. You won't find a shop that will do that for less than 300, and thenb you have to add in the TIG welding for the tranny, and the cross member, and everything else.

I have a T45 in my car, and am getting ready to rip it out. The t45 is a weak unit, and it shows in my car. The input shaft bearing is about out, and my 3rd gear syncro is about out. Im going with a 3650 in the 94, and am gonna finally get my T56 put in my 95 as soon as the paint is done.

Mike

The T45 is a tremec.

Your better off going with a 3650 out of the 05 stang. It hasd a remote mount shifter so "theroretically" it should make the swap easier. Tremec is about the only company that makes a Manual tranny to fit the 4.6 right now.

That is a subjective question also.....How much mechanical expierence do you have?

If none....10
if a little...6
If youhave the expierence, and the shop/tools to do it....4

I had a few weeks in it, (working after work and on weekends of course...). I would have to say I had around 30 hours total.
