I just bought a 01 ls yestarday and the radio is pretty weak.I don't have the $ to get a kenwood yet soo is there any way to get more bass out of the factory radio?also I am going to install my 2 12" subs and amp is there an easy way to do this or is there anything I need to aviod

also are there any other radios that fit in the factory slot besides the kenwood

thanks

I'm running the stock head unit with Boston Accoustics in all 4 doors. I added my old Kicker 300.2 amp in the trunk to drive my 2 Kicker CVR 12's in a sealed box. I used the Kicker amp's built in high level input and tapped into the harness for the rear door speakers. I used a switched hot that is in the harness on the drivers side of the trunk behind the carpet. There is a large (probably 20 pin) connector there. I tapped my 12v switched hot from that and of course ran the 12v constant from the battery itself. (Which on these cars is ALOT easier than most!)

The left rear door speaker wires are: WHITE/VIOLET is + and GRAY/WHITE is -.
The right rear door speaker wires are: all WHITE is + and all GRAY is -.
The 12v switched I found in the trunk is a YELLOW/BLUE wire.

thanks man.my only concern is the lack of adjustablity with factory headunit.my kids ride in the car some time so I like to be able to turn the subs off very easy.are there any aftermarket headunits that fit the wbesides kenwood?I want to stay with the double din not the small ones thanks

I've got a remote bass knob for my Kicker, so I can just crank it all the way down....

I don't know about the head units. I love my steering wheel controls, so I haven't looked into it very much. I know you can order a PAC - SWI device that will allow you to use the steering wheel controls with any head unit as long as it has a wireless remote enabled.

You can also put a ton of head units in there with an adapter:

But, I suppose you are looking for one that will fit without an adapter. I'm not too sure about that.
