It's an absolutely beautiful car and the smooth ride/steering/braking is great. I kept my former car that I gave hell every single day: 1994 BMW 540i with 319,000 miles on it and still runs like a beast. I could not take the idea of trading it in for so little since it was mine for so long.

Anyways, about the LS. It has 58,000 miles on it. It is a V8 (of course), black exterior, & looks new in and out. I don't know anything really about lincolns, and hell, cars in general. My BMW ran so well with so few repairs I never really bothered. One question I have is: At this point, what can I do to improve the exterior of the car? I'm a college student so cash is an issue. I was thinking of chrome wheels. Is chrome plating foolish, or a safe bet?

What about tinting the windows? Missouri allows, for a pretty dark tint, I think, so how does a tinted LS look?

Also, maintenance and upkeep wise what can I do to keep it in top notch running condition?

I'm sure all these questions have been asked before, but it's confusing trying to put it all together from a million seperate sources; plus I can't really find any pictures of customized Lincoln LS's?

Appreciate the help in advance!

congrats on the new purchase! i have a 00 LS v6, and have had lots of problems!!!
if you bought it from a private party, find out whats been done to it. dealerships sometimes keep records of services. if you can get a free carfax, it will tell you where it was bought, call that dealership with the VIN#, and see if you can get service records. then call ford cust service, have your vin# ready & they can tell you what recalls have been done. 800-392-3673

then you'll just have to wait to see what problems it has & fix em as they go...
2 most common big probs are misfiring due to leaky valve cover gaskets (one prob i'm fixing now) rough ride (due to many causes, ball joints, swaybar links, etc....

you'll love the car, but hate the cost of fixing these problems!! :)

as far as exterior ideas, check here to see what some people have done: http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/search_results.cgi?make=Lincoln&model=LS&x=45&y=7

heres the best one of them all: MINE!! haha!! :L

Hey, thanks for the quick response. I already had to replace the valve cover gaskets, one week after I bought it! I purchased from a dealer, in a fairly small town. They covered half, even though it wasn't in warranty.

welcome to LvC. My nephews live in columbia, mo. My brother used to be a law dog there as well. I got him out of that mess and into communications... from being shot at to shooting the :q :)

Welcome!
Bimmers are great! Most impressive car I've ever been in. But Bimmers are EXPENSIVE! Especially when you are supplying your own big bucks. Lincolns are Great too! But Lincolns can drive ya nuts with a bunch of problems that should have been sorted out by Ford. Be nice to that dealer and hope that they continue to give you a break when you return for parts or service. lol Lincolnlov

First car I bought was a '77 Chevy Monza back in '85 and every time you would shut the door, a piece would fall off. I had to clean the driveway of rust every week. :)

Welcome!
