Just wanted to let you guys know that i just performed the first mod. on the LS. My airbox now has thirty-five 7/8" holes in the bottom half. Didn't want to cut the entire bottom out so i opted for the next best thing. I took a 7/8" spade type drill bit and drilled the holes, centered in the ribbed squares (if you've looked from the inside of the airbox without the filter you see what i mean) and along the bottom side under the wrap around air nozzle going to the fender. This type bit probably wasn't the neatest (had to take a knife and trim around the holes to celan them up), but was pleased with the results. Now when under heavy accel. i hear just enough throat from the engine to make me grin even more than i did before. Next mod. i either plan to cut the resonators off and replace with straight pipes or install a new system with replacement speakers and subs. Can't go too crazy, my wife drives it too. Very conservative she is. Thanks for all the tech. info.

lo, i cut the bottom out of mine this weekend also, u notice a difference. i also had my resonators removed, theres also a difference. but mine are making a ticking noise im going back tomorrow to have them check the welds.

yeah, i had true duals installed on my '96 silverado and they tick. probably didn't weld the around the tops of the pipes very well. Did you have straight pipes welded in place of the resonators? Did you install any type of chrome tips? what yr. is your LS?

no tips yet, im hoping to put some flowmaster 40 mufflers in and then out some oval tips on. my ls is a 00

mines an '01. The reason i ask is that i want to install straight pipes in which i will want to cut out half-circles in the lower valance; much like the newer models have. Didn't know if you had considered the same.

Low on funds but driving a Lincoln?

I know the feeling :D?

Chopping the bottom of the air box definately adds some growl under WOT, but I'm wondering if they start sucking in hot engine bay air which hurts power?
