Fed Ex came through about an hour ago. Working late tonight! This thing is shrink wrapped in plastic and I can see through from one end to the other and I can see the inner X inside and it is baffled. The entire part is 100% stainless steel, including the inner baffles. Lifetime guarantee works for me. Mufflers tomorrow. I can tell by looking through it that it's going to have a good free air flow.

I hope it all turns out good and I am going with the SS tubing kit just for assurance. These will be ordered tomorrow and maybe be in next week. I'm not installing it until the first part of Jan anyway. The "Pypes" tips are shipping on the 28th I believe.

Then these??

I like the highlight text on that add.. "requires the use of X pipe" maybe folks will quit running straight pipe

That's them and to be safe, I'm going with the SS for about $90 more with shipping. I think in the long run, it would be worth it because my car might be subject to being driven in the rain one day. Plus, there could be a sound difference by using the aluminized steel.

Nevermind. I can't read apparently.

 lol, I never seen anything you said anyway. I was on a LED hunt and then trying to figure out how to change a dot matrix display from green to blue, the one in our message center... I have an extra one and I get into stuff like that so, I'm going to see if I can't make one into blue but it will be a Gen 1 display.

Yeah DLF he's got the 95/96 rear bumper so it has the bumper cutouts..does anyone think the stock 95/96 stainless tips are large enough to weld onto 2 1/2" pipe, because that's what I want to use, don't really like the big tips just want it to look stock from the rear.

This is an older pic.

Yep, I have the cut out's on mine and the tips should look 100% better than the stock tips I have now. At least I'll have something that can actually be cleaned and kept shiny. I want the mufflers tucked up in there as far as they can get them and the tips placed as close to the bumper cover as possible, without touching it and sticking out just enough to show the "Pypes" emblem. That's what I'm shooting for. I'll get the mufflers ordered tomorrow and have those stashed back, waiting on the tips to ship.

Seems like when I ordered those and paid, in red it said "Item will ship Dec 28th". I don't know what the hold up is but I can wait it out. At least I know they're coming and the best part is that they weren't $90 for the pair like I was expecting. I think they're the best option IMO to keeping it looking stock. Just a nicer version @ $64 for the pair. When everything comes in, I'll take it to the shop and see if they can use their own SS mandrel bent piping for less than the online kit cost.

Doug, did you have to modify your kit because of your headers or another reason? If I'm looking at having to get it modified, I may as well let them just use their own SS pipe with minimal welds / modifications. I'm going to take pictures of your exhaust and some others to give them an idea of what they'll be working with.

I had to modify the kit in order to keep it tucked up enough to not be the lowest thing under the car, retain the NVH crossmember in the tunnel, and in order to clear the rear suspension brace that I have. Additionally, I added v-band clamps.

Thanks Doug, now I'm understanding your exhaust a lot better now and how you have it set up. If I order the kit, it won't need near as many modifications as yours did. You have the headers, the two cats, brace and also making sure it's tucked up high. All I want is the highest tuck as possible with everything and I'll be happy. These pics will help them do it right. Thanks again!

I'll show the kit to them, after I have asked what they would charge to install their own pipe. If they're cheaper, I'll let them go with it but if they are any higher than the kit I'll have on paper, I'll show it to them and see if they want to beat the price. With no shipping involved and the amount of pipe needed, with pics of how and where to bend, they might beat the $245 + $30 shipping. Can't hurt to ask them.

YUMMY! Gotta love that view of a new toy in a box to install on our car. :D

The stock tips are barely 2" pipe inlet, can be modified a bit to be 2-1/4 but that's already pushing it. If you want stock look, check into Ractive T820.
I used them on the last project, trying to mimic the stock look and still be able to use 2.5" mufflers. They were substantially smaller than the Pypes tips.

Doug's Pypes tips looks great in person though. I have a feeling they will look a little big on a 1st gen car, with it's sleeker rear cover, and unfortunately smaller bumper cutouts.

Those are T820s in the pic?? They look nice, I may go with those when I do my exhaust

I see what you're saying but the "Pypes" are oval and that helps out and they are a little flatter looking than the ovals you have pictured. They could be the same from top to bottom but as for the cut out, Doug has a little room on either side but I do admit, they are wider than I was thinking. I'm just hoping they'll fit up in there just right and if not, they can come out of the hole about a 1/2" but I'm hoping they'll be right at a 1/4" away from the cover. We'll see. By looking at the pic below, it appears that those tips would fit a 1st gen bumper almost perfect. All I can say is that it appears lol. Notice the room Doug has on either side with the wider cut outs.

Yeah I never really measured them but always wondered if they would fit on 2.5" pipe..guess not, but I do like the look of those tips on yours, they seem to fit the contour of the bumper cutout a bit better than the pypes tips, maybe ill look into those when I do my exhaust, thanks for the tip..pun intended :D

Kevin, you ain't right lol. :p Anyway, I put up a side by side and the tips to the left do fit the contour better. I see that. Then look at the pic to the right and see that "Pypes" aren't as round but more flatter. This will allow me to come out of the cut out, enough to fit and probably hang down just as low. The Pypes could always take a little squeeze on each side to round them up a bit... Boy, I'm hangin in there ain't I? :) Y'all go ahead and beat up on my tips lol. ;)
