I am the proud new owner of a 93 Mark VIII with 115000 miles. I absoluetly LOVE the car. But I do have a nagging problem that I need an answer to. The AIR BAG light on the warning light panel will flash once, pause then flash twice once the car is running and it will not stop. Any ideas anyone?

crawford.d@insightbb.com THANKS!!!

Diagnostic Code 12

Low Battery voltage

Normal Opperation

The diagnostic monitor measures voltage at pin 13 of the diagnostic monitor connector. Voltage should be equal to battery voltage. If the voltage measured at pin 13 drops to less than 9 volts, the diagnostic monitor will flash code 12.

Possible causes

Low battery voltage at pin 13 can be caused by:

1. An open in the battery input circuit that would prevent battery voltage from reaching the diagnostic monitor. NOTE: If fuse 16 is blown, make sure to diagnose the system for possible causes 2 & 3.

2. A short to ground in circuit 611 (W/O) OR 612 (P/O) may result in a blown fuse 16.

3. An internal short to ground within the safing sensor may result in a blown fuse 16

4. A concern in the charging system causing battery voltage to drop below 9 volts.

5. A short to ground on the battery feed circuit (797 LG/P)between the fuse and pin 13 of the diagnostic monitor.

I also have the wiring schematics that I can scan for you if you need them. In addition to that is the Ford troubleshooting list for this error code.
