Flashing "check transmission" messages?

Hey, everyone,

Tonight I was driving my 97 Mark and suddenly the control panel threw up "check transmission" then the "o/d off" indicator lit up... but both flashed off in a second. This happened about three times with no other indication of any problem, all within about a five minute period of time.

Has anyone else ever seen this? About an hour before, my parking brake was really stubborn releasing... not sure if that could play into it at all or not.

At any rate, any ideas or thoughts on what this might be would be most welcome.

could just be a sensor, is it shifting ok?

Yep, the shifting seems fine... I really didn't notice anything other than the stubborn brake earlier.

I had a problem like that come up recently too. Though it seems to be torque converter lock up related. Maybe you will get some replies . . .
